Youth, ages 8-12, will experience hands on learning of what it was like to be a revolutionary soldier, as well as a colonial farmer and child of the colonial times. They will learn what it was like to enlist in the Revolutionary Army, what life was like as a Revolutionary Soldier, what a child’s roll would have been in a family of farmers during colonial times while visiting the Beaumont Family home, and a look into the life of young Faithy Trumbull, as she grew up in a prominent house during the revolutionary war.
Youth will gather at noon at the Lebanon Congregational Church for an opening chat and to divide into groups. Those staying for the day should park at the “Alden Tavern” Town Parking lot between the Historical Society and Community Center. The Historical Society Leaders will split the youth into 4 groups of like ages, with two parent chaperones per group. Then each group will head to their starting locations on the Lebanon Historical Society campus. The groups will spend about 25 minutes at each program then walk to the next location. Groups will reconvene together at Alden Tavern Town Public Parking Lot between the Community Center and Historical Society grounds for a brief closing and to be rejoined by their caretakers.
