Museum
Completed in 1998, the Museum building is fully accessible and includes exhibit galleries, a large meeting room, research room, reference library, archival storage, public restrooms and a kitchen.
The main hallway features a permanent exhibit about the history of Lebanon from the time of the town’s Paleo-Indian site (10,000 to 12,000 years ago) to the 1990s. The American Revolution and 19th and 20th century immigration are highlighted. One gallery off the hallway presents a long-term exhibit about Lebanon’s role in the American Revolution in our hands-on history room. The other gallery features exhibits which change about every two years.
Displays in the meeting room change once or twice a year and are often curated by community members or feature objects loaned by Historical Society friends and members. The adjacent exhibit area presents the Society’s collection of medical implements, including objects associated with local healer Dr. (Bonesetter) Charles Sweet.
