Smoke House

This unusual granite and wood smoke house was found near a vacant house on a Lebanon back road.  Dating to the late 1700s, this utilitarian structure is an uncommon survival of a once familiar outbuilding.  With a fire burning on the floor and meat hung above, smoke and heat served to preserve beef or pork.
